Placing a metarecord hold

 To place a “meta” hold that will capture all holdings of selected formats attached to a meta-MARC record:

  1. Staff member pulls up the patron record and clicks on Holds and then Place Hold, the patron logs into My Account, or the staff member goes directly to the Catalog.
  2. Enter the title information, and check mark Group Formats/Editions. This option is available both on the Advanced Search screen or after a basic search has been done. Click Search. In the search results, all formats of the title are grouped together, showing seven results instead of 21.

  1. Click Place Hold on the entry for the appropriate grouped record. 
  2. Associate the hold with the patron if you did not start from the patron record by scanning their library barcode or using the Search for Patron function.
  3. Select the number of copies desired.
  4. Unselect the formats the patron does not wish to place a hold on as well as languages. If all are checked, the hold will be filled by any combination of format and language available in the catalog.
  5. Confirm library pickup location and hold notification details and select Place Hold(s).

The Holds Status will notify you if the hold was placed successfully.
