Libraries may choose to have the autorenewal setting turned on for materials circulated at their branches.
When autorenewals are turned on for a specific library, on the date (around 3am ET) an item that was circulated from that library is due, the ILS will attempt to renew the item on behalf of the Patron. If there are no outstanding holds on the item, the Patron is in good standing, and there are remaining renewals available (according to the selected circulation modifier of the item), then the item will be renewed. Patrons will receive an email detailing which materials were successfully renewed and which should be returned to avoid potential late fines. Autorenewals observe all of the same rules as patrons do normally when renewing; autorenewals are blind to the Patron’s Home library and item ownership.
Note that materials cataloged with the ‘equipment’ and ‘ereader’ circ mods are ineligible for autorenewal.
