Automatic Patron Account Purge Process #
When a patron’s account expires, it will be marked as inactive within 24 hours. This means that patrons will not be able to check out material or log in to their account via the classic catalog or Aspen.
If the inactive account does not have any open transactions (circulation and/or billing), then the account will be automatically purged from the system after three (3) years (as per Indiana law).
The account does not have any open transactions? Why didn’t it purge? #
- If the account was ever in collections, there may be a flag on your collection agency’s end that needs to be disabled.
- There have been instances where some old bills did not received a “Closed Date.” Submit a helpdesk ticket so we can confirm this and add a closed date to the transaction.
Manual Patron Account Purge Process #
From the patron’s account, click the Other tab. Within that menu, click on Completely Purge Account. It will ask you a couple of times to confirm (it is irreversible!).
