Live Trainings

The Indiana State Library and the Evergreen Indiana Governance subcommittees lead a variety of live trainings for member libraries’ staff. These trainings are offered free of charge and may be hosted by the Indiana State Library, via webinar, or any member library with appropriate facilities. Most live trainings are eligible for LEUs. Standard courses are offered quarterly. Registration is usually required to ensure sufficient supplies and space are available.

Our standard courses include: Circulation, Cataloging, Local Administration, Reports, the OPAC, and Searching the Catalog. To view a complete list of the available webinars and what training is required (or recommended) for a specific staff profile type, view the Learning Tracks page.

Recorded Trainings

Evergreen Indiana maintains two YouTube channels.

The Evergreen Indiana Training channel includes recordings from:

  • Evergreen Fundamental Skills Courses
  • Cataloging and Reports Interest Group meetings
  • Some conference sessions
  • Additional training webinars

The Evergreen Indiana channel includes recordings from:

  • Committee Meetings
  • Some conference and regional roundtable sessions
  • Some older training webinars

Please note that the number of LEUs a recorded webinar is worth may be different than when it was presented in a live setting. Most recordings are edited for conciseness before being uploaded to the Evergreen Indiana Training YouTube channel. The webinars are being looked at constantly for changes or additions so that the most accurate information is shared with the consortium.

LEU certificates earned by watching the recorded webinar should be managed in-house. Certificates will only be distributed by the Evergreen Administration Team for those attending live webinars.

Online Classes

We are in the process of converting our basic live courses to asynchronously available online classes. Please note that this coursework heavily reflects Evergreen Indiana policy and procedures. If you are taking the course as a representative of another library or library consortium, your policies and procedures may differ significantly.

Current courses include:

Basic Cataloging: This course is an introduction to copy cataloging in Evergreen Indiana. A free account is required for access.

  • Recommended prerequisite for this class: Basic understanding of cataloging standards (AACR2, RDA).
