Weekly Update: July 9, 2010
Technical News
The damaged notices that began to run on June 28th (see the 6/25/10 Weekly Update for details) are printing as email notification, not as letters. We are working to resolve this. Please be aware these notifications are being emailed to the patrons for now.
REMINDER: The phone number clean up is going to be taking place this Sunday evening. This will:
- Eliminate all preceding “1-”s
- Eliminate all text (except extensions) within the phone number fields
- Eliminate all 1-6 digit numbers, as well as 8 & 9 digit numbers
- In the case where there is a 7 digit number, the area code of the library will be inserted before entered number
- Standardize all numbers in the system to a “xxx-xxx-xxxx” format
Circulation News
The State Library, Hussey Mayfield Memorial Public Library and Jackson County Public Library are continuing to develop the technical systems that will allow Evergreen member libraries to collect fines on behalf of other member libraries, including credit card acceptance and reporting mechanisms. The Circulation Committee will then draft procedures to go to the Executive Committee, who will develop appropriate policies. Until we have a plan in place, please continue to collect fines only for your library.
Training News
There are still openings for the upcoming Advanced Cataloging Training to be held this Tuesday, July 13 from 9 AM-4 PM at the Lebanon Public Library.
If you or your staff are interested in attending, please register at http://evanced.info/indiana/evanced/eventcalendar.asp
Please also note that space is limited, so don’t delay!
