Weekly Update: July 2, 2010
Member Update
As we prepare to launch the outbound calling that will notify patrons when they have holds to pick up, we’ve discovered that approximately 60% of the phone numbers currently entered in the database are not usable. We are planning to do an automated clean up of the numbers next week. When the clean up runs, it will do the following:
- Eliminate all preceding “1-“s
- Eliminate all text (except extensions) within the phone number fields
- Eliminate all 1-6 digit numbers, as well as 8 & 9 digit numbers
- In the case where there is a 7 digit number, the area code of the library will be inserted before entered number
- Standardize all numbers in the system to a “xxx-xxx-xxxx” format
Please be sure to use the xxx-xxx-xxxx format for all future phone numbers entered into Evegreen. Please note that if a phone number has an extension, the system will not place an automated call to the number.
The automated message that patrons will recieve will say, “This is an automated call from “patron’s library” intended for “patron name” informing you that the “item/items” you requested “is/are” available for pickup.”

Barcode Order
We are organizing another barcode order. The barcodes range from $12 to $15 per thousand. There is also a $35 lot charge and shipping charges. Email Wendy Knapp, wknapp@library.in.gov, with the following information if you wish to participate in this order: Name of library; name, email and phone number of contact person at the library for proof; starting bar code number; and number ordered. Send a copy of 10 current barcodes via mail or scan. Your library will be billed when the barcodes are shipped.
