Side Loading in Aspen
At this time, the Administration Team will provide side loading for your digital collections. Please submit a helpdesk ticket to begin the process. Equinox provides a list of collections and their recommended connection method.
Side loads will be performed in the evening during off-hours to limit effects to the Aspen catalogs.
Current collections we have side loaded:
- Kanopy
- World Book
- Tumble Books
- Gale eBooks
- Salem Press
Process for Side Loading Records
- You: Submit a helpdesk ticket to request your collection be added to your Aspen catalog.
- Us: A folder for your library will be created in Google Drive and the link will be shared with you.
- You: The file(s) with your vendor’s MARC records will need to be uploaded into the folder. This process may be different for each vendor.
- Us: The side load will be configured and we will bring the records into Aspen. We will notify you when the process has completed.
- You: Check your collection to make sure it is viewing correctly in Aspen.
Kanopy
For the first side load, we will need the complete collection file from your Kanopy dashboard to be uploaded to the Google Drive folder.
New Records
If Kanopy provides you with additional records after the initial load, please email Britta to let her know and then upload the file to the Google Drive folder. They will be added to your collection.
Removed Records
Each quarter Kanopy provides a list of titles that have been removed from their collection. When this occurs, and your collection has these titles, please provide a new (and complete) file of your Kanopy collection. This will be side loaded and replace the original, subsequent, and removed records from your catalog.
