EI Updates – Aspen Edition

Over the course of the next six months, Evergreen Indiana will be working with Equinox Open Library Initiative to deploy the Aspen Discovery Service as an updated user experience in terms of the discovery of resources in the Evergreen Indiana catalog and other databases provided by member libraries to their patrons.

The Aspen Discovery Service will allow an integrated search across Evergreen, Overdrive, Hoopla, and more without the need to load catalog records for most e-materials into the Evergreen Indiana database.  It will also provide the opportunity to spotlight additional library services and programs.

Each member library will have their own customized entry point with the ability to further customize it to fit their library’s brand.

Today, a kickoff meeting was held.  If you missed the meeting, you can view the recording here.

Additionally, please find brief notes from the meeting here as well as a link to the “Digital Resources Survey”.  Reminders to fill out the Digital Resources Survey as well as a call for member library logos will go out in late October.

Finally, a new Evergreen Indiana email list has been created as a channel for communication about Aspen and Evergreen Indiana.  Initially, this will mostly be filled with news and conversation about the implementation.  In the future, this email list will allow for member library staff to collaborate and get support from one another in terms of customizing and optimizing their local Aspen OPACs.  You can sign up for this email list here.
