Weekly Update – April 15, 2011

INSPIRE and ILS Coordinator

I would like to introduce myself as the new INSPIRE and ILS Coordinator at the Indiana State Library. My name is Shauna Borger (sborger@library.in.gov) and I look forward to working with the Evergreen Indiana community in the future. I’ve been working closely with the ISL staff for the past three weeks to get to know the policies, procedures, committees, and community that is involved with Evergreen Indiana. I want to thank the Evergreen Community for your patience during this time of transition and express my enthusiasm for working with the project and the members!
For more contact information, visit the ISL Library Development Office web page.

Events this week

Cambridge City Public Library, Hartford City Public Library, Kewanna-Union Township Public Library, and Dunkirk Public Library migrated to Evergreen Indiana on Tuesday! We want to take this time to welcome them to the Evergreen Indiana community!  We now have 89 libraries live, serving a population of 811,861.

Catalog freeze

The catalog freeze was lifted Tuesday morning. Just a reminder that when ISL announces a Modified Catalog Freeze there can be no original cataloging in the system.  Items can be added to existing bibliographic records but creation of new bibliographic records is prohibited.

Catalog freezes aren’t always convenient but they are necessary and important for migrations. As always, we appreciate your patience!

Migration issues that have been fixed

-Fix for transit slips

-Disabling the print pop-up box

-You can find step-by-step instructions at the ISL Evergreen Indiana  web site –> Staff Training Documents (http://www.in.gov/library/3380.htm) -> Evergreen Indiana – Turning off the printer pop-up (http://www.in.gov/library/files/Turning_off_the_printer_pop-up.pdf).

Migration issues that are still being worked on

-Printing hold slips in the order they appear in the staff client

-Resetting claims for patrons

-Holdings listed in bold when viewed in the OPAC

Evergreen Indiana 2.0 webinars

Megan Maurer and Jessica Jacko Barnes, Regional Coordinators, conducted 4 webinars last week discussing the changes to Evergreen Indiana 2.0 and allowing time for questions. Many good questions came out of those sessions and they will be researched and posted to the EI blog soon.

OverDrive

A reminder to all Evergreen Indiana libraries: You are all eligible to apply for membership into the eIndiana Digital Consortium to take advantage of all the resources OverDrive has to offer (http://cidc.lib.overdrive.com/F3DFBF6E-3B6F-4091-87D4-C967ED2AB680/10/679/en/Default.htm). Feel free to contact Shauna Borger (sborger@library.in.gov) or Wendy Knapp (wknapp@library.in.gov) for more information.

Update your URLs. . .if you haven’t already

Please make sure that you are following the instructions provided by Michael Peters below to access Evergreen Indiana at your specific library.

*URL for library OPACS so that the default search is for your particular library

Syntax: http://evergreen.lib.in.us/opac/en-US/skin/default/xml/index.xml?ol=yourshortnamehere

Example: http://evergreen.lib.in.us/opac/en-US/skin/default/xml/index.xml?ol=isli will link to a search of only Indiana State Library – Indianapolis items.

*URL for a link to Evergreen

The proper URL for Evergreen as a whole is always http://evergreen.lib.in.us – any bookmarks to a different page may be outdated and not “upgrade proof” as filenames may change.

*Code for Evergreen search box on a library webpage

Copy and paste the following HTML – http://pastie.org/1794912
