Weekly Update – November 12, 2013
Quote of the Week
What’s great about Evergreen Indiana?
- “Providing our patrons with expanded access to materials and the ability to share resources between libraries.
- A cost effective ILS solution that allows smaller libraries to provide big library services and allows for robust record keeping and statistical tracking.
- A community of libraries with fairly standardized workflows and policies to encourage ease of use for patrons and expansive support for library staff.”
— Ruth Frasur, Director, Hagerstown-Jefferson Township Public Library
Did you know?
The Executive Committee recently voted to amend the Evergreen Indiana Membership Agreement to create a flat rate exit fee. What does this mean for libraries? Libraries who choose or who are asked to leave the consortium will be asked to pay a fee of $5000 to the consortium in part to recompense the consortium for services rendered and in part to cover the costs of extracting a set of library-specific data records. The rate was set with the express purpose of limiting the liability for libraries for whom the consortium is no longer a best-fit while providing a measure of reparations to the consortium.
Conquer Patron Record Management
In the wake of several updates and changes to how we are managing patron record management more automatically, the archived Fall 2013 Patron Services Roundtable on Patron Record Management is now transcribed and available on the Evergreen Indiana Webinars page. Please take some time and review the new recommendations for best practices in dealing with patron records.
