Weekly Update – May 19, 2011

Resource Sharing in Indiana

There are now 89 libraries in Evergreen Indiana including public, school and government that serve over 811,000 patrons. As the Evergreen Indiana community already knows, one of the benefits of becoming an Evergreen Indiana library is the ability of a patron at any of the Evergreen Indiana libraries to access any circulating materials from the entire consortium. What EI member libraries may not know is that the growth of Evergreen Indiana has directly affected the statistics of inter-library loan rates in Indiana. From 2007 to 2008, none of the top twenty libraries in the state engaging in inter-library loan included an Evergreen Indiana library. From 2008 to 2010, there was an increase from one to five Evergreen Indiana libraries breaking into the top twenty inter-library loan libraries in Indiana. Finally, from 2010 to the present, statistics show that not only have Evergreen Indiana libraries become ten of the top twenty inter-library loan libraries in Indiana, but the second highest inter-library loan rate comes from an Evergreen Indiana library. Based on these statistics, Evergreen Indiana is filling a growing patron demand for a variety of resources to be delivered in a fast and efficient way.

Board Resolution

Please make sure that your library has signed and turned in your board resolution. We need to collect a signed board resolution from every library in Evergreen Indiana before we can begin testing the ability for any library to accept fees for any other Evergreen Indiana library.
