December 18, 2020
Hello all,
Not surprising to any of you, things have been a little crazy in the Evergreen Indiana world added to the context of things being a little crazy in the world at large. I hope you each have the opportunity to take a deep breath from time to time, find your center, and let go of at least some of the pressure that inevitably builds up.
There are many, many updates in this email, so please take the time to go through it completely and feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
First thing’s first:
Evergreen 3.4 Upgrade
Thank you to everyone for your patience over this major upgrade that also happened to be the FIRST upgrade for more than half of the Evergreen Indiana admin team. We have learned a lot and are both cognizant of necessary improvements and confident about future upgrades.
As of now, these issues have been resolved:
- Third party credit card transactions can now be accounted for in the patron interface.
- When selecting “credit card” as the payment type, after entering the amount and clicking apply, a modal will pop up. The first field says “Process Where?” with a drop down next to it. From the drop-down, select “Record Externally Processed Payment.” This will change the modal to ask for an approval code. This approval code can be anything and does not necessarily need to correspond to an approval code from the third party credit card processor (ie. Square, Clover, your local bank, etc.)
- The issue with editing patron records while there are penalties/messages on their account has been fixed. You should no longer need to archive the penalties/messages, and appropriate circulation blocks should remain in place.
- Payment reconciliation links and printable notice links should be functional (but still a little buggy) now.
- A note here – there are two menu systems in play right now – one that says in the home page URL “eg2/en-US/staff” and one that says “eg/staff.” The links work on the splash page that uses “eg2/en-US/staff.”
- On any staff client page using the eg2/en-US portion in the URL, however, the “Home” button doesn’t work. We’re working to resolve this.
- All core functionality, with the exception of credit card payments through the “My Account” OPAC feature, have been restored.
Committee Updates
All four of the Evergreen Indiana committees, executive, eContent, cataloging, and patron services met over the past couple weeks. I will be working on getting the meeting recording prepared and uploaded to the Evergreen Indiana YouTube channel as time allows.
Training Update
We had a whirlwind of training that was also mired in the general upheaval of the past couple months. I am working through a backlog of follow-up emails for both Basic Cataloging and Advanced Cataloging participants. In an attempt to get everyone working as efficiently as possible, I will be focusing my attention in a bit of a backward trajectory, dealing with new CAT1 catalogers first, then focusing on getting out TLEU certificates and then working on any recordings, etc.
A full slate of Evergreen Fundamental Skills courses have been scheduled for January. You can register at the links listed.
