Weekly Update — July 27, 2016
EI SRCS Demo
We are putting together a streaming demo of the workflow for EI libraries that are part of the Phase 1 SRCS participants. This will show how the NCIP connection streamlines the process and discuss specifically how to include these requests in your holds/transits workflow. This training is being tentatively scheduled for August 4, 2016 at 10am. Please mark your calendars and watch the listservs for participation information. This training is expected to be archived for anyone who isn’t able to attend live.
Advanced Cataloging Workshop
Monica Boyer will present an in-person Advanced Cataloging workshop on Friday, August 5, 2016 from 9am-4:30pm at Jackson County Public Library in Seymour. This workshop is required for anyone who creates, imports, or edits bibliographic records in Evergreen Indiana. Space is limited; please contact Monica (monica@myjclibrary.org) to register.
Regional Roundtables Update
We are soliciting sites for the 2016 Regional Roundtable series! We’re still looking for a site in the Northeast region, so if your library has availability to host in September-October, please let Anna know! Thanks to everyone who has already volunteered their library as a host site!
Committee News
The Executive Committee is scheduled to meet on August 9, 2016 at 1pm at the Indiana State Library.
The eContent Committee is scheduled to meet on August 9, 2016 at 10 am at the Indiana State Library.
Migration News
The Eckhart Public Library and Garrett Public Library migrations have been scheduled for August 1, 2016. We look forward to welcoming them to the community and visiting with everyone who is sending staff for the training and go-live.
Catalogers should note that a modified freeze will be in place beginning at 7am July 29-8am August 1, 2016. Please watch the listserv for updates to that timeline. During a modified cataloging freeze, staff are welcome to add and modify holdings. Other cataloging activities are suspended.
The Orleans Town and Township Public Library migration has been scheduled for August 22, 2016. Orleans has opened up their on-site training to other area libraries! Please see below for registration links if you’d like to send staff to in-person Basic Circulation and Holds trainings.
We are putting together final lists of who may be able to send staff to the migration go-lives and first weeks! Please let Anna know if and when you are planning to send staff. Additional information about cataloging freezes will be released closer to the migrations.
