Critical Functions: Your Opinion Needed
The Equinox developers are asking us, as end users, to tell them what we want the Evergreen staff client to do. Any staff member who works with the Evergreen ILS may fill out the survey. The results of this survey will guide what will be prioritized in the development process. Please encourage your staff to all participate in this survey:

Searching and RDA: “Where are the author’s other books?”
As Evergreen Indiana libraries begin to use the new RDA cataloging standards and the developers work to integrate both classic AACR2 and new RDA record searching protocols, some search functionalities are not working as expected. RDA allows for the use of relator terms that are appended to an author/creator’s name in the MARC record. An example record looks like this:
100 1 Austen, Jane, $d 1775-1817 $e author
When the relator term follows the name, it will not link that name to all other works by that author. In other words, if you click on this entry hoping the results will show everything in our database by Jane Austen, you probably won’t get many hits. You will only get other records where the $e author was added to her name. The vast majority of records do not use the relator terms and they will link as usual. It is hoped that this problem will be resolved with the upgrade to 2.4 which should give us more RDA functionality.

Due to repeated issues with timeout failures, the Vandelay (ISBN) match set (for match on import) has been removed from the Evergreen Indiana database. We will let you know when an improved substitute has been found.
