September 18, 2026 Update
Help Wanted – Upgrade Testing Cohort
Evergreen Indiana will upgrade to version 3.17 on November 21st and 22nd, and we need you! Help us test out the new version before it’s uploaded to our production server. All Evergreen modules will be tested. Interested? Sign up here. Testing will begin in October.
Ethics Audit
Just a reminder, everyone should have the new Patron Confidentiality Policy and Ethics Form signed by October 1st. Directors, please be sure to send me your signed forms, along with your library’s audit form. All staff member forms should be kept in their personnel file.
Forcing Renewals
We have noticed an influx of forced renewals (circulations with negative renewals) and ask that libraries do not force renewals on circulating material not owned by your library. Reach out to the owning library if the item is needed longer.
Marking Items Lost or Damaged
When marking items lost or damaged, please remember that the item’s owning library should be the only one to mark it as such.
If a patron returns an item damaged, you should contact the owning library to determine what their preferred next steps are. If you send the damaged item back to the owning library for assessment, check it in so its status will change to “in transit.”
Patch Added to Hide Deleted Shelving Locations in New Reporter
Jeremy applied a patch to the new reporter and simple reporter that should hide deleted shelving locations from shelving location filters.
We’ve been wanting something like this for a very long time, so we are appreciative of the Evergreen developer community’s work on this!
OverDrive’s Security + PIN Requirements
The EILC Admin team was made aware of the email OverDrive sent out to libraries that a PIN or password will be required for patrons to log in to their OverDrive accounts.
If you currently require a PIN with Libby sign-in: Nothing will change for your library.
If you don’t currently require a PIN with Libby sign-in: The EILC Admin team is working with Overdrive to begin the PIN requirement for all Evergreen Indiana libraries on October 1, 2026. You will not need to contact Overdrive individually. You may want to start notifying your patrons that the PIN requirement is coming so they can be ready for the 1st.
